I am a website designer and developer with experience creating simple, attractive sites for small businesses and non-profits.  Prior to this career change, I was a top commission-based sales manager with extensive sales, account management, problem-solving and team-building talents.  My goal is to work with individuals that share my values of building strong client relationships and delivering an excellent work product.

WORK EXPERIENCE

2002 - Present  ::   Web designer, Webmaster  •  Washington, DC
Design, code and launch websites for small businesses and non-profits.  Manage each project from concept to completion; incorporating goals, technical requirements, aesthetic preferences, and tangible definitions of success.  Provide mockups, and ultimately hand code the layout, content, graphics, hyperlinks, image optimization, search engine optimization, and ongoing maintenance.

1988 - 2001  ::   Sales manager •  BASELINE Financial Services •  New York, San Francisco, Washington, DC
One of five original employees of a firm which grew to 200+.  Marketed our extensive proprietary research database of publicly traded stocks, commodities, economic indicators and interest rates to professional investment managers, bank trusts, mutual fund managers and private investment counselors.  Tackled many challenges that face a small, growing company which included launching a new product, creating marketing materials, developed product branding, organizing trade shows, and training new associates.  Navigated a sophisticated sales process, requiring affirmation from top executives and senior portfolio managers, as well as the firm's IT department.  Proven talents centered upon my ability to understand the firm's investment philosophy, needs and agendas, overcome objections, provide creative and flexible solutions, and integrate our product with other software applications.  Successfully opened the company's first regional office in San Francisco, which resulted in dramatically accelerated sales and a strong market presence on the West Coast.

Developed a start-up syndicate department, introducing the firm to the syndicate community.  Serviced institutional clients having interests in equity, corporate debt, and municipal offerings, and developed an information network between these institutions regarding upcoming offerings.

1984 - 1984  ::   Syndicate Associate •  Shearson/American Express •  New York, NY
Part of a team which allocated and maintained positions of participating underwriters for the firm's domestic equity offerings, including IPOs.  Assisted the marketing desk with internal branch allocations of stock. Monitored the after-market performance of offerings.
