WELCOME

Welcome to DannaMcCormick.com.  No blogs, weekly missives, or latest reading lists available.  But I will share with you my portfolio and philosophy, and hope this sets the stage for a good working relationship.  I specialize in websites for small businesses and non-profits who need a polished and professional website, but simply can't afford the fees that large web design firms charge.  It's great fun to work with individuals to infuse their sites with their style and passions, and a joy to help their businesses grow.

TELL IT TO THE DOG (my dog)

Why?  Because Spencer listens - deeply, intently, as a whole body experience.  Listening is key to giving the client the site they want.  It's not about me or fancy web skills.  It's about the client - their business, their look, their vision.

"If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right."  Clean code that validates may not mean much to you now, but poorly written, sloppy code will come back to bite you (and most likely, at the worst possible time).  I hand-code and validate my sites so there is no superfluous or sloppy code and, they're built with structure that will continue to perform as technology advances.  My clients are able (if they wish) to update their sites without my help.

"Less is more."  My sites strive to be clean and focused.  Viewers aren't overwhelmed with a busy mess, having to guess what to look at first.  I believe in good color palettes, easy readability, and aesthetically interesting design.  You may have several points you want to make to your viewers, but there's a way to lead them to water without spraying them in the face.

"Tiny Details, Big Impact."  Sometimes a site will clearly look amateurish, or simply broken.  Text overlaps, elements out of line, mis-sized pictures, links that don't work - you've seen them.  Polish is all in the detail... and I'm a stickler for detail.

Don't know where to begin?  Creating a website can appear daunting. I enjoy diving in, but for some people it's an overwhelming prospect.  That's why I created this Proposed Website Spec Sheet to help you think through the details.

Next step... send Spencer and me an email.  He and I will take a walk, chew on it a while, and get back to you pronto with our ideas.
